What You’ll Do
Job Summary
As the Engineering Manager for the LIPE Queretaro Eaton plant, you will lead a team of 10 direct reports and 22 indirect reports to coordinate and execute product line support for Eaton’s rapidly growing LIPE Product Line. The role requires a combination of technical, communication, and collaboration skills. You will be organizing engineering team activities in alignment with the product line and plant goals; you will represent the engineering team in plant-level decisions; you will be communicating with leaders at all levels of the organization on high-profile product line support and NPD activities; and you will collaborate with a distributed, cross-functional team in order to identify constraints, align expectations, and drive business success. Most importantly, you will engage and develop the QRO engineering team to drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities

- Recruit, develop, and retain top talent and ensure alignment with the business’ top goals
- Partner with Product Management, Technical, and Operations leadership to prioritize and execute activities
- Drive collaboration with internal cross-functional teams (especially Design, Quality, and Manufacturing)
- Represent the engineering team in plant meetings and operations to ensure inclusive decision-making
- Identify and escalate organizational needs, including headcount and expense allocation
- Develop and execute the VA/VE and NPD strategy for the Queretaro site
- Enforce engineering change management control through the existing change management process, while constantly improving the process and execution times
- Provide timely and appropriately detailed updates on ongoing activities as requested by leadership (i.e. yearly reviews, stage gate presentations, project updates, production issues, etc.)
- Sponsor critical projects for the engineering team, removing organizational roadblocks
- Work with department supervisors to track and communicate the budget for the team
- Drive continuous improvement in both engineering and plant processes
- Develop critical relationships to ensure a collaborative environment between the cross-functions
- Run meetings in support of the Queretaro plant and Division as needed to drive accountability and alignment with the strategy
- Coordinate meetings within engineering and representing engineering at the plant- and division-level sessions"
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining team members
- Experience with getting results in a cross-functional environment
- Experience with problem solving tools/processes
- Experience coordinating significant numbers of diverse activities
- Experience with engineering design tools (DpFMEA, DAP, DVP, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
- Green belt or black belt trained and certified
- Experience leading MOL and NPD teams
- Experience with medium voltage distribution products (cable accessories, air-break switches, under-oil switches/transformer components, overhead arresters, and current-limiting and/or expulsion fuses)
- Experience with IEEE and/or IEC standards
- Experience with high-voltage and/or high-power test labs and product testing
- Experience with change management processes
