
Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Sr Supplier Quality Engineer.
Eaton announced, on January 26, 2026, the intent to separate its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) into an independent, publicly traded company. We expect to complete the separation by the end of the first quarter of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the spinoff closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.
What You’ll Do
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures purchased components and outsourced processes consistently meet IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirements by leading supplier APQP/PPAP, driving robust problem solving (8D), assuring supplier QMS/process capability, and executing Customer‑Specific Requirements (CSRs). The role partners with Sourcing, Plant Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to build capable supply bases, reduce DPPM/PPM, and accelerate safe launches using the AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) under Eaton’s EQMS.
Essential Functions - Job Responsibilities
- Lead supplier APQP for new parts and changes- Approve/coach supplier quality plans (PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA/SPC)
- Own supplier nonconformance management. Open SCAR/DMR in WISPER, lead containment, drive structured 8D root cause/corrective actions, and verify effectiveness
- Manage CSRs and special process requirements (e.g., AIAG CQI assessments) with suppliers
- Monitor & improve supplier performance (PPM/DPPM, on‑time PPAP, OTD) and deploy Supplier Performance Improvement/Controlled Shipping when needed.
- Assess supplier change requests (SCR/ECR) for risk; ensure appropriate re‑qualification (APQP/PPAP) before approval and implementation.
- Support safe launches with pre‑launch control plans/error‑proofing and transition to series production; maintain master records per EQMS and AIAG guidance.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally (Purchasing, Engineering, Plant Quality, Manufacturing) to eliminate chronic defects and strengthen process capability (Cp/Cpk).
- Communicate status/KPIs and provide coaching to suppliers on EQMS expectations, Core Tools, and problem‑solving met
Qualifications
Education level required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Years Of Experience Required
Technical knowledge
- Solid knowledge of engineering techniques & manufacturing processes
- Thorough knowledge of statistics & statistical process control, including gauge repeatability & reproducibility studies
- Knowledge of metrology, including CMM application & programming preferred
- Hands‑on experience in automotive Supplier Quality or process engineering with AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC)
- Demonstrated 8D/5‑Why problem solving, containment, and effectiveness verification.
- Ability to read GD&T, interpret drawings/specs, and assess process capability.
Diplomas/certifications
- Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt
English level
- Ability to communicate in the English language (80%)
